Overview

The R2 ListenPoint Room Module (RM) is designed to easily mount on the ceiling or on the wall of a room and its primary purpose is to communicate with the M1 microphone via infrared light and provide audio to an existing sound system. It connects to the Control Unit with one (1) Cat-5e cable reducing cable clutter. The paintable surface (except the sensor lens) snaps into a supplied mounting platform and has a cable cover that hides the cables. The RM has a built in IR sensor/emitter that bi-directionally communicates with up to two (2) microphones. This unique feature auto-registers any microphone within the room for simple operation. Two (2) additional sensors may be added to the RM. The RM has a paging input and a general purpose interface for controlling or accepting control to/from other devices.

    FAQ

How much does the RM weigh?
    The RM weigh’s 1.75 lbs. (.8 kg)

Can I interface to an existing paging system?
If your facility has a 70 volt (or 25 volt or 8 ohm) paging system, you can feed that signal into the “Paging Input” on the RM. The RM can pass the page through to your ListenPoint™ speakers, and/or duck the audio from the ListenPoint™ system. The ListenPoint™ system does not have a 70 volt output. The four power amplifiers are designed to drive either 8 or 4 ohm loads. You may however use either a non-powered RM or take the Line Output from the CU and drive a 70 volt power amplifier.

Does the system have Muting or Ducking function during Paging?
Yes, there are four levels of ducking Low, Medium, High, and off. Low is 6 db, Med is 12 db, and High is 18 db.

Do additional sensors need the additional power supply in the RM?
No, all sensors are powered from the RM and its power supply.

Will the 4-microphone sensors cover more area than the 2-microphone sensors?
No. The only difference in these two sensors is how many IR channels they can operate simultaneously.

What are the fire codes and regulations for cutting a hole in the ceiling?

Are the RM and Expansion sensor affected by Plasma’s or other light?

What is the maximum length of Cat-5e cable between CU and RM?
Maximum length for full power is 75 ft. (23 m)

How large of an area can systems cover?
The RM with its onboard sensor emitter can accommodate a 25’ x 25’ (8 meters by 8 meters) room. For larger rooms you will need to add up to two additional remote IR sensors. Remember, when adding sensors that a 2 mic or 4 mic sensors must be chosen.

What are the mounting options that are included with the RM?
Ceiling Mount (Ceiling Box, Wall board or Drop Ceiling), Wall Mount (Wall Box or Wall Board)

How many microphones can be used with the LPT-R2?
Two (2) Microphones can be use at one time.

How many speakers can the LPT-R2 power?
None, you will need to go to a powered RM.

Since the LPT-R2 can’t power any speakers, how do I get audio to my existing sound system?
You can use the balanced line output on the RM or the unbalanced line output on the CU.

What is the warranty of the ListenPoint products?
The ListenPoint™ product has a 5 year warranty on core product that covers all manufacturing defects. Batteries have a one (1) year. Also, all accessories have a 90 day warranty.
