Darby High School, with grades eight through 12, is a small school in Darby, Montana. Its graduating class every year is approximately 40 students.
Problem
When COVID-19 began spreading through the US, school districts around the country closed school buildings and required students to do coursework from home. States issued stay-at-home orders, limited the number of people who could gather, and required social distancing. Those rules meant Darby High School couldn’t hold its usual graduation ceremony in the school gym.
Solution
Listen EVERYWHERE delivers crystal-clear audio via Wi-Fi to free apps on iOS and Android devices. The customizable app can feature welcome videos, text banners, channel labels, and more.
Darby High School used Listen EVERYWHERE to hold a drive-in graduation ceremony, broadcasting the audio to nearby cars, creating a unique and memorable experience for everyone.
On graduation day, 40 cars pulled into the high school parking lot. Inside the vehicles, family, and friends of Darby High graduates opened the Listen EVERYWHERE app to listen to speakers and watched graduates receive their diplomas.
Result
Using Listen EVERYWHERE allowed Darby High School to hold an in-person, drive-in graduation ceremony during the COVID-19 global pandemic.
Listen EVERYWHERE
- – Eliminated the barriers of an in-person graduation ceremony, allowing everyone to maintain social distance and still hear the speakers.
- – No shared equipment, so the school didn’t have to worry about COVID-19 spreading on common surfaces.
- – Easy to set up and use, with simple plug-and-play installation.
- – Used the school’s existing Wi-Fi network.
Moving forward, the school district plans to use Listen EVERYWHERE for drive-in movie nights for elementary students and the community.
