The R12 ListenPoint Room Module (RM) provides DSP customized audio processing, speaker amplification and extensive connection to external devices permitting system designers to optimize the learning sound environment. It mounts in the ceiling of the classroom and provides a single point of connection to: C2 or C6 control units via a single Cat-5e cable; four speakers; two expansion sensors; school paging system; integrated assistive listening transmitter; and external devices. The single Cat-5e cable significantly reduces cable clutter. The system can be integrated and controlled by external audio-visual equipment through the Listen Bus that offers RS-485 or RS-232 bidirectional control. The R12 has extensive DSP equalization that enables precise audio customization resulting in the best possible sound quality. The paintable surface (except the sensor lens) snaps into a supplied mounting platform and has a cable cover that hides the cables.

Architectural Specs

The room module shall connect to a control unit using a standard Cat-5e cable and shall provide bi-directional communication with infrared M1 microphones by means of an emitter-sensor built in to the room module. The room module shall accept up to two (2) microphones simultaneously and the microphones must be capable of auto-registering. The room module shall be capable of driving four independent speaker zones with a total power of 60 watts (RMS) at four ohms impedance. The room module shall provide high-resolution equalization for popular ceiling speaker models and provide a seven-band equalizer, consisting of two tone controls and five bands of fully parametric equalization for room equalization. The room module shall provide 512 points of speaker equalization specific to certain speaker brands and five-bands/two tone control room equalization. The room module shall have the capability of an integrated assistive listening transmitter. The room module shall be capable of adding two (2) additional IR sensors. The unit shall have a bidirectional RS-485 communications port that allows the system to communicate from and to other audio-visual products and control systems. The room module shall accept an external paging input that shall reduce the speaker level when paging audio is present. A general-purpose interface shall provide an isolated input and a SPDT relay out that shall accept and deliver controls to external equipment. The room module shall snap into a mounting platform that can be mounted to wallboard and ceiling tile and shall have a cable cover. The room module (except for the IR lens) shall be paintable. QHow many M1s can be used with the LPT-R12?
ATwo (2) M1s can be use at one time.
QHow many speakers can the LPT-R12 power?
AIt can power up to eight (8) 8 ohm speakers running in parallel.
QCan the RM be controlled by an AMX or Crestron system?
AYes. The third party control system can send commands and receive responses through a RS485 interface on the back of the RM. The commands are in a ascii text format.
QCan I interface to an existing paging system?
AIf your facility has a 70 volt (or 25 volt or 8 ohm) paging system, you can feed that signal into the “Paging Input” on the RM. The RM can pass the page through to your ListenPoint™ speakers, and/or duck the audio from the ListenPoint™ system. The ListenPoint™ system does not have a 70 volt output. The four power amplifiers are designed to drive either 8 or 4 ohm loads. You may however use either a non-powered RM or take the Line Output from the CU and drive a 70 volt power amplifier
QDo additional sensors need the additional power supply in the RM?
ANo, all sensors are powered from the RM and its power supply.
QWhat are the mounting options that are included with the RM?

QDoes the system have Muting or Ducking function during Paging?
AYes, there are four levels of ducking Low, Medium, High, and off. Low is 6 db, Med is 12 db, and high is 18 db.
QHow large of an area can systems cover?
AThe RM with its onboard sensor emitter can accommodate a 30’ x 30’ (9 m by 9 m) room. For larger rooms you will need to add up to two additional remote IR sensors.
