A ListenWIFI system streams audio over your local area network to a dedicated receiver or bring-your-own-device (BYOD) smartphone via the free ListenWIFI mobile app.
Connect an audio source to a ListenWIFI server. Consider how many audio channels you need and how many users you expect. Servers can be stacked to accommodate more audio channels and users. The audio source can be a microphone, tv or radio audio, and more.
Connect your server to a local area network to transmit the audio over Wi-Fi. ListenWIFI lets you stream audio over your wireless network. The backbone of ListenWIFI functionality is dependent on a well-designed network with proper configuration. Take a look at our Network Configuration Guide to make sure you optimize the use of ListenWIFI at your venue.
One of the biggest benefits of ListenWIFI is that you give your guests a choice. Users can access audio through two options: a venue-provided LWR-1050 Receiver or their own smartphone using the free, customizable ListenWIFI app. Planning to stream multiple languages? Both the Wi-Fi Audio Receiver and mobile app can be effortlessly programmed to access an available language of your choice.
The user listens to the audio via headphones or a neck loop if they have telecoil-enabled hearing aids. When guests choose to receive the audio on a venue-provided receiver, they simply plug in the earbuds or headphones, adjust the volume, and hear the audio. No connecting to Wi-Fi, or downloading an app. To automate channel connectivity, utilize the LA-490 Beacons. These beacons trigger receivers and smartphones to tune to a specific audio channel automatically when a person is within a specific range of the unit.
Assistive listening signage is a typical part of most legislative compliance. It also informs customers that a system is available to improve their experience. Businesses that display assistive listening signage must have a working system and meet all other legal requirements to comply with local accessibility and accommodation laws.
The LW-203 Venue Awareness Kit effectively informs customers about the availability of ListenWIFI for streaming audio directly to smartphones. This comprehensive kit includes promotional materials, including posters, window clings, table tents, and leave-behind cards, designed to guide users in downloading the app and connecting to your venue’s audio.
Ideal for settings where smartphones are used to access audio, the kit complements any setup that includes Wi-Fi Audio Receivers for compliance or backup, with additional LW-307 Hearing Assistance Signage recommended.

How to check your server:
Listen Technologies provides a free SDK for developers to integrate ListenWIFI audio streaming into custom mobile apps. For example, a venue with its own app can embed ListenWIFI functionality so guests access streamed audio directly within that app.
The SDK includes libraries, code samples, and documentation for both Android and iOS integration.
How to access:
The SDK is regularly updated for OS compatibility, new features, and maintenance fixes. Update notifications, release notes, and download links are sent by email.
Q: Does ListenWIFI meet ADA compliance?
A: Yes! ListenWIFI meets ADA compliance when paired with the proper number of Wi-Fi receivers, neck loops, and assistive listening signage. Check out our accessibility calculator to ensure you have the proper quantity of each based on your seating capacity.
Q: Should I provide dedicated Wi-Fio Audio Receivers while still allowing guests to use their smartphones?
A: Absolutely! Customers often prefer to user their own devices and download the ListenWIFI app. For those that do not want to use their own device, the LWR-1050 receivers are compliant and easy to use. There’s no need to connect to the Wi-Fi and no need to download an app.
