Designed to deliver greater audio quality, simplicity and flexibility, the PLS-900-12 distributes up to 12 stereo/24 mono analog audio sources (upgradeable to 24 stereo/48 mono) via digital WiFi transmission using scalable multicast technology.

Setup is simple, with everything your venue needs to get started included in one package: an audio interface for converting and transmitting up to 12 stereo/24 mono analog audio sources; a 1RU server for managing the audio channels; and a wireless access point that delivers high-quality stereo audio to 60+ users over a coverage area of 6,500 m² (70,000 ft²).

Internet connectivity delivered to the server can be configured in the Server Admin programming to allow listeners to access Internet content while streaming your local audio content. Additionally, the Internet connection provides automatic updates, remote management options and the ability to configure the server to add your business’ logo to the mobile app. The system can be configured online at www.ListenWiFi.com or via the server’s own web admin interface.

12 Stereo/24 Mono Channel Wi-Fi Audio Distribution System – ListenWiFi Personal Listening

A. Furnish and install a Listen WiFi Personal Listening System.  The system shall be capable of broadcasting up to 12 stereo/48 mono channels accessible through a free mobile app available to download on both Apple iTunes and Google Play app stores. System shall be rack mountable. Wireless access point shall be able to cover 6,500 m² (70,000 ft² ) in an open building with single access point with no audio dropouts.  System shall deliver 44.8 KHz sampling rate with 16 bit resolution.  Audio stream per client must not exceed 0.2 Mbps. System must be able to support up to 60 smartphones and/or tablets. Hardware shall be an all-in-one system that does not require additional components (i.e. WiFi infrastructure, or external servers).  System shall be ready to use out of the box with very little setup.  Must be available to access via a common web browser to configure features.  System must be able to include the ability to add a venue logo, adjust delay, view audio level inputs, disable channels not in use, and set internet bandwidth pass-through rate.  System must be able to receive automatic updates without any user intervention and without any monthly fees.  It shall only use Multicast data transmission to deliver audio.   Listen Technologies products are specified.

Q How many mobile devices can connect to the ListenWiFi WAP at one time?
A One wireless access point can support 60 to 100 mobile devices depending on how many channels are streaming.
Q Can you connect the PL-900 ListenWiFi Server to an existing wireless network to stream audio?
A It is not supported at this time as there are multiple implications to the performance of existing WiFi networks. ListenWiFi is focused on good quality low latency audio, and feel we best achieve this as a stand-alone system, which has been fully tested and guaranteed to work.  All that is required is a WiFi Site Analysis in order to determine the best operational frequencies for the system.  ListenWiFi delivers low latency multicast audio to the most users with this approach, as our network is not bogged down with extra traffic or network gear already on existing networks.  Therefore, we have decided not to support existing networks, but rather operate independently.  Listen has been asked this question, and has at times experienced push-back to our approach, but have decided it is in the best interest of our customers and users to operate ListenWiFi as a standalone system.  We feel the performance and usability will prove to be better with this approach.
Q What is new about the ListenWiFi system?
A Modular design so you can add additional channels later, higher audio bit-depth sampling, size of system is smaller (1RU), quite server, new website for configuring channels (no tablet required), ability to add venue logo, and unlimited software updates.
Q Can this system be upgraded later to add more channels?
A Yes, you would simply buy additional audio interfaces to get the desired number of channels.
Q What are the advanced setting available on this new system?
A Per channel you can adjust delay, gain, frame size and forward error correction. Also if customer allows a VPN connection can be established with the remote server for remote diagnostics.
