The Listen Technologies Philosophy: Innovation, Accessibility, and Customer-Centric Design

Listen Technologies believes everyone deserves a clear and enriching listening experience, regardless of their environment or hearing ability. Since our founding in 1998, we have been dedicated to creating innovative solutions that enhance hearing in challenging environments.

With a passion for innovation and a focus on accessibility, we continue to shape the future of assistive listening by making our products easy to use, reliable, and effective. Whether in a house of worship, a museum, a corporate boardroom, or a stadium, Listen Technologies ensures that every individual can fully engage in the moment.

A Mission Rooted in Experience and Innovation
Listen Technologies was founded by Russ Gentner, an audio engineer with a broadcasting and AV technology background. Before starting Listen, Russ worked in the AV industry, where he saw firsthand how existing assistive listening solutions often fell short in quality, usability, and accessibility. With one in five people experiencing some degree of hearing loss, he recognized a need for better solutions, ones that were not only high-performing but also simple to use and easy to integrate into venues.

Seeing a gap in the market, Russ launched Listen Technologies with a clear mission: to create superior assistive listening products and make them easy to implement for both venues and users. From the beginning, we have been guided by a philosophy that centers on creating great experiences from start to finish—whether through our technology’s design, how we support our partners, or the experiences, we help create for end users.

As Russ often said, “We empower people to listen, but in order to do that, we have to be good listeners.” That commitment to listening—to our customers, our partners, and the individuals who rely on our solutions—continues to shape everything we do.

Pioneering Innovation in Assistive Listening
Listen Technologies started with radio frequency (RF) assistive listening systems, dedicating two years to developing a superior product that would be more reliable and effective than anything else on the market. Since then, innovation has been at our core, driving us to push the boundaries of what’s possible in assistive listening. Over the years, we have brought to market groundbreaking solutions, including ListenIR, which uses infrared light for secure, high-quality audio transmission; ListenWIFI, formerly Listen EVERYWHERE, which allows users to stream audio directly to their smartphones; and ListenTALK, a powerful one- and two-way communication system designed for seamless interaction in guided tours, training sessions, and corporate events.

We also redesigned our RF product line to enhance performance and accessibility. Most recently, we introduced Auri™, the first assistive listening system powered by Auracast™ broadcast audio, marking a new era in Bluetooth®-enabled assistive listening. Through every product innovation, one thing has remained constant: our belief that everyone should have the same listening experience, regardless of their hearing ability.

A Commitment to Innovation and Accessibility
At Listen Technologies, we don’t just build products—we create experiences that transform the way people hear the world. Our philosophy is rooted in listening to our customers, understanding their needs, and developing solutions that truly make a difference.

As Maile Keone, our President and CEO, puts it: “We want to integrate and be innovators with our technologies. Understand what the market wants and where it is going and then be there.”

With an unwavering commitment to innovation, ease of use, and accessibility, we will continue to develop solutions that empower people to listen more clearly, engage more fully, and participate more confidently in every aspect of life.
